About Sort-o-Bot

Sort-o-Bot teaches if and else, the way programs make decisions. Items roll down a belt. You write the rules that send each one left or right. Then you press Run and watch the robot follow your rules on every item.

How to play

  1. Read the goal. It tells you which items belong in each bin.
  2. Add an IF rule. Pick a colour or a shape and a direction.
  3. Add more rules, or an ELSE rule for everything left over.
  4. Press Run. Each item goes through your rules one at a time.
  5. Every item must land in the right bin to pass the level.

What it practises

Rules run from the top down, and the first one that matches wins. That's how real if and else code works, so rule order matters. Later levels add AND, which needs both conditions, and NOT, which flips a condition. The game has a tutorial and six levels.

Questions

What is if else logic?
It means: if something is true, do one thing. Otherwise do another thing. In Sort-o-Bot, you write the rules and the robot follows them.
What does ELSE do in Sort-o-Bot?
ELSE catches every item that no earlier rule matched. It saves you from writing a rule for each colour.
Is Sort-o-Bot good for beginners and teachers?
Yes. It teaches if and else with no typing. It is free and needs no sign-up. It opens in any browser.
