Dumb charades rules
- Make two teams of two or more.
- One actor per turn. The phone shows them a movie. They hide it, put the phone where everyone can see the clock, and act.
- No speaking. No mouthing words, no letters in the air, no pointing at things with the title written on them.
- Their team guesses out loud. When someone gets it, tap Guessed it! The other team just watches.
- Teams take turns. One point per movie guessed. If it's a tie, the team that guessed faster in total wins.
Don't know the movie? The actor can swap it once before the clock starts.
Dumb charades signs
These are the signs most groups use. They vary, so agree them before you start.

Wind an old film camera: one hand in front of your eye, the other turning a handle. - Hindi movie
Many groups use folded hands (namaste). Agree it first. - English movie
Many groups tip an imaginary hat. Agree it first. - Number of words
Hold up that many fingers. - Which word you're on
Hold up fingers again: two fingers means you're acting the second word. - Syllables
Lay fingers on your forearm: two fingers means two syllables. - Sounds like
Tug your ear, then act a word that rhymes. - Small word (a, the, of, ka, ki)
Hold your finger and thumb close together. - The whole title
Sweep both arms in a big circle. - Longer / shorter
Pull your hands apart, or push them together. - Yes, that's it!
Point at your nose and then at the person who said it ("on the nose").
Tips for the actor
- Start with the big signs: movie, language, number of words. Your team should shout them back.
- Go for the easiest word first, not the first word.
- "Sounds like" saves you on names: Sholay โ tug your ear, then act "sho", then "lay" down.
- If your team is stuck on one word, move on and come back to it.
